Vitamin C is an essential nutrient for the skin. It’s needed to boost collagen production, and the skin’s natural regenerative process which helps your body repair damaged skin cells that can start to slow down as we age. Can you believe the ageing process starts from 25?! 😱😱 I know, I know – but don’t worry, it’s never too late to start.

So why do you need to be using this wonderful ingredient in your skincare? It helps with such a range of skin conditions: Uneven skin tone, rough texture, fine lines, reduces redness, acne scars, general dullness – you name it and it’ll most likely help. Vitamin C is also a natural antioxidant so increases your protection against UV damage and fights skin ageing free radicals. It also has the power to strengthen ruptured capillary walls to prevent future redness.

However, not all Vitamin C products are created equal! You need to ensure it’s a stable form as once it’s in contact with oxygen it will oxidise and be less effective. Make sure the packaging of your vitamin C is air tight and in a dark or sun protected bottle.

Our salon favourites are:
– Cosmedix Pure C Crystals: This magic powder is 100% pure vitamin C in it’s most bioavailable form and can be added to your favourite serums or moisturiser. Apon application this powder delivers a fresh dose of vitamin C each time.
– DMK Direct Delivery Serum: There are 3 forms of vitamin C in this serum: ascorbic acid (pure vitamin C), as well as ascorbyl glucoside and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (water-soluble derivatives of vitamin C). So really packs a punch!
– Aspect Extreme C 20 Serum: A potent, non-irritating, stable and pure Vitamin C (ascorbic acid), pH neutral so less irritation.
