Exfoliation helps to ‘buff off’ the top redundant cells and speed up cell turnover making skin bright, smooth and your products can be absorbed deeper – But can you exfoliate too much? YES!! 💥

Depending on the type of exfoliant you have ideally you should be exfoliating 1-2x a week. You also need to take your other skincare products into consideration when using an exfoliant. Does your cleanser, toner or serum have exfoliating properties? Vitamin A, Salicylic, Lactic Acid to name a few, are all chemical forms of exfoliating ingredients. The difference is that chemical exfoliants use acids or enzymes to dissolve and loosen the cells, while physical exfoliants like scrubs contain small particles to buff away the dead skin and debris.

Over exfoliation is a common skin condition we see, resulting in irritation, redness, peeling, increased oil flow and breakouts, and an overall ‘tight’ feeling of the skin. Knowing your products and how often to use them is key. That’s what we’re here for, to share our knowledge and give you your best skin so come in and see us for some friendly advice 🎀
